Night Has Come: A Story of Mafia Games in the Real World

Night Has Come is a Korean drama scheduled to air on December 4, 2023. A thriller, the series is produced by director Lim Dae Woong and writer Kang Min Ji.

Night Has Come: A Story of Mafia Games in the Real World

Officially titled 밤이 되었습니다 (Bami Dweeseumnida), Night Has Come officially airs through U+mobiletv. Meanwhile, viewers in Indonesia can access it on the OTT platform Vidio.

Young actress Lee Jae In plays the main character, Lee Yoon Seo. She competes with actor and idol Kim Woo Seok.

In this article, we will briefly review the synopsis of Night Has Come which can be considered as a spectacle. For details, see the following article.

Night Has Come Synopsis

The story begins with Yooil High School Class 2 students who want to leave for a retreat. In this case, a retreat is defined as a tour or short vacation with classmates and teachers.

They left by bus with one male teacher. Things looked fun even though there were some who fought for seats on the bus. Lee Yoon Seo (Lee Jae In) sits next to his close friend, Oh Jung Won (Choi Ye Bin).

In this class, there is a male student named Kim Jun Hee who is popular because of his good looks. He is also the class president. No wonder there are students who admire him secretly to openly. One of them is Jae In.

Unable to take his eyes off her, Jae In occasionally glances back, looking at Jun Hee who is sitting alone and asleep. Several times Jung Won reprimands Jae In for his behavior which is becoming more and more obvious if he likes Jun Hee.

Another student named Kim So Mi also likes Jun Hee. She boldly took a portrait of Jun Hee who was sleeping. So Mi openly expressed her admiration for Jun Hee. Even so, Jun Hee didn't really respond.

On the other hand, there is Ko Kyung Jun's gang who are known as class hooligans. No one can bother and fight them. When a group of students were playing on the bus, his men reprimanded them for fear of disturbing Kyung Jun's sleep.

When it gets dark, they arrive at the retreat location. The place is more or less like a school. Inside, decorations and necessities have been prepared for the field trip.

The only teacher who came with them received a call from another colleague. It was known that this retreat was not only attended by students from one class, but a whole batch. However, the voice of the call was unclear.

With a lot of consideration, the teacher decided to leave them for a while to go to the other group. At the same time, they lost cellular and internet signals.

But the signal barrier didn't bother them much. A group of students are practicing a dance for a performance. Others were sitting around, arranging food, and playing around.

Before that, Jun Hee was ordered to coordinate the class members to wear uniforms and take pictures when the participants were complete. Therefore, she just let her friends do their activities as usual.

Strange things happen when Yoon Seo and Jung Won find mafia messages and games on their phones. Like a welcome greeting, they are noted to join the game.

It turns out that the mafia notifications also went to other students' phones. At first no one was suspicious. They think that this is just a normal game. A student named Baek Eun Ha jokingly wanted to choose Heo Yul.

It turns out that Baek Eun Ha's baseless opinion and joke led Heo Yul to become the most selected participant to be killed. Unfortunately, Heo Yul really lost his life that night.

This tragedy made them all panic. It was getting late and everyone fell asleep according to the game moderator's script.

When the day brightened, they all woke up and questioned what really happened. It turned out that the game location had been marked with a white line. At first they wanted to escape by leaving the retreat.

The white line is also considered a silly thing that shouldn't really exist. Recklessly, two students crossed the line. Shortly after, they injured themselves and lost their lives.

It turned out to be a real-life mafia game. As time passed, they had to choose who was accused of being the mafia. Unfortunately, in a few days, the mafia figure has not been found.

Likewise, the accused victims had to be executed. Things get even more chaotic when a number of students want to save themselves. While each of them is scared and confused.

That's the synopsis of Night Has Come, the latest Korean drama December 2023 that can be watched. For those interested, you can access it through the Vidio streaming platform.

The Boys in the Boat: George Clooney's New Movie

Under the direction of director George Clooney and adapted from the best-selling non-fiction book by Daniel James Brown, "The Boys in the Boat" is a moving work, woven with perseverance, brotherhood, and an indomitable spirit in conquering seemingly impossible odds.

The Boys in the Boat: George Clooney's New Movie

Synopsis of "The Boys in the Boat" (2023)

"The Boys in the Boat" tells the moving story of nine young men from different backgrounds at the University of Washington who are members of the rowing team.

In the midst of the Great Depression, they find purpose and brotherhood in a sport that requires perfect synchronization and physical endurance.

Under the stern but inspiring guidance of coach Joe Rantz, they overcame personal obstacles and lack of resources, practicing in an old boat and facing ridicule from their elite rivals.

Even so, they stuck to a common dream: representing America at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

Their journey to the Olympics was not easy. Each team member faced personal challenges, from family problems to financial crises, but they found strength in their unity and determination.

Tensions rise as they reach Berlin, where they not only face stiff competition from the world's teams but must also battle against widespread Nazi propaganda.

The movie depicts the thrilling moments of the race in stunning detail, showing the incredible physical and mental strength of these young men.

The highlight of the movie is the decisive final race at the Berlin Olympics, where "The Boys in the Boat" face their toughest rivals.

With incredible tenacity and cooperation, they pull off a race that will change their lives.

Their victory is not only an incredible athletic feat but also a triumph of the human spirit over injustice and adversity.

The movie leaves viewers with a powerful message of resilience, brotherhood and the unshakable power of dreams.

Note "The Boys in the Boat" (2023)

The movie masterfully combines the intimate struggles of these young men with the broader historical context.

The shadow of Nazi Germany dominates as the 1936 Berlin Olympics approaches, injecting a layer of political tension into the narrative. However, for these young men, the focus remains singular: becoming the first team from the West Coast to qualify for the Olympics.

Their journey was far from smooth. Financial constraints forced them to train in a rickety old boat nicknamed "The Slug," while facing constant taunting from their Ivy League rivals.

However, what they lack in resources, they make up for with courage and tireless teamwork. The movie beautifully captures the coordinated grace and brute force of rowing, drawing the audience into the rhythm of each row.

As the pressure mounts and internal conflicts arise, Rantz's unorthodox training methods begin to be questioned.

His belief in mental toughness and the power of the collective spirit conflicts with the traditional technical approach preferred by the authorities. These internal conflicts add depth and nuance to the movie, making Rantz a complex and interesting character.

Ultimately, "The Boys in the Boat" is a testament to the transformative power of sport.

It is a story of hope, proving doubt wrong, and discovering the power that lies within when we come together.

The climax of the movie, the Olympic race itself, is an orgy of suspense and emotional catharsis. Watching this team of underdogs, fueled by unwavering faith and the unwavering support of their coach and community, achieve the seemingly impossible is both chilling and soul-stirring.

More than just a sports movie, "The Boys in the Boat" is a deeply relevant story that offers a powerful message of hope, resilience and the transformative power of believing in the impossible.

Godzilla Minus One Movie: Terrifying Terror in Japan's Troubled Times

Japanese film production companies Toho Studios and Robot Communications have just released a movie about their country's famous monster, Godzilla, titled Godzilla Minus One on November 3, 2023 in Japan and December 1 in the United States.

Godzilla Minus One Movie: Terrifying Terror in Japan's Troubled Times

This movie is predicted to be one of the best movies of 2023 due to its amazing storyline and visual effects. Oh yes, you need to know that this Godzilla movie is different in storyline from Godzilla in the Monsterverse made by Legendary and Warner Bros.

Storyline

Director Takashi Yamazaki set this movie in a time when Japan was trying to recover from the effects of the atomic bomb in 1945, in the midst of the chaos of the struggling people of the cherry blossom country, the appearance of Godzilla posed a new and more frightening threat.

The devastated condition of Japan, the sadness that occurs everywhere, coupled with Godzilla's brutal attack, makes this movie feel more gripping than other Godzilla films.

While some scenes show the Japanese army's attempts to annihilate Godzilla with gunfire and bombs, here Godzilla's visuals are taller, bigger and more detailed.

Causes of Godzilla's Attack

The atomic bomb tests carried out on the islands around Bikini Atoll destroyed the ecosystem there, this is what made Godzilla furious and finally attacked humans.

Differences with the Monsterverse version of Godzilla

If the Monsterverse version of Godzilla is depicted as a hero who protects the earth from evil monster attacks, in this Toho version Godzilla is made more sadistic and cruel to humans.

It can also be seen from several scenes that show Godzilla's sadism towards humans, such as throwing trains, stepping on crowds of people, and annihilating the masses with a flick of his tail.

Why 'Minus One'?

So, what caused this movie to be titled Godzilla Minus One? Launching from the Average Being page, Japan's defeat at that time, made Japan at point 0, then Godzilla's terror that helped destroy Japan, made things worse and made it go down to minus one or minus one.

That was the review of the movie Godzilla Minus One, for those of you fans of the Godzilla franchise, it looks like you have to watch this one movie. Unfortunately, this movie has only aired in Japan and in the United States.

When both sides realize this situation, Sullivan and Costigan each attempt to find out the other's identity before they are exposed.

The Departed Movie Synopsis, War of Police and Mafia Informants

The story begins when, Sullivan has been raised as a spy within the Massachusetts State Police (MSP) and joins the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), which is investigating the case against Costello.

A new officer, Billy Costigan Jr. was recruited by Captain Queenan and Staff Sergeant Dignam to go undercover and infiltrate Costello's gang. Costigan was chosen for his ties to organized crime, with his deceased uncle Jackie once connected to Costello's gang. Captain George Ellerby of the SIU informed Special Investigations that the identity of the undercover would only be known to Queenan and Dignam to prevent information from leaking out.

Costigan committed a series of crimes to attract the attention of Costello and executor Arnold French, who then recruited Costigan into the organization due to their attachment to his uncle. Over the next year, Costigan became increasingly involved in the operation.

Due to the pressure of maintaining her identity, her emotional and mental state declined, and she threatened to quit, but Queenan and Dignam convinced her to continue. Costigan's only contact at MSP was a police-appointed psychiatrist, Madolyn Madden, who was also Sullivan's girlfriend. Costigan and Madden later had a relationship.

Costigan told MSP Costello's gang was selling stolen computer microprocessors to the Hong Kong Triads. MSP devises a trap, but Sullivan informs Costello, allowing everyone to escape. MSP and Costello realize there is a spy among them and task Sullivan with finding him.

Meanwhile, Costigan learns that Costello is a protected FBI informant. Costigan shares his discovery with Queenan and Dignam while warning that Costello realizes there is a spy among his subordinates.

One night, Costigan follows Costello into an adult theater and witnesses him give an envelope containing information about his crew to Sullivan to compare with police records. Queenan orders Costigan to get a visual identification of Sullivan but she is unable to see his face clearly. When Sullivan realized that he was being followed, he mistakenly stabbed a restaurant worker and fled.

Later, Sullivan tried to juxtapose Costigan's image, captured by nearby security footage, with the police database but was unable to identify him. Queenan advises Sullivan to follow Costello to find the MSP spy. Fearing that he would soon be found and killed, Costigan called Queenan and arranged a meeting to stop the operation, but Sullivan followed Queenan, lying to other officers that Queenan might be a spy. Sullivan also summoned Costello's gang to the meeting location.

When Costello's men arrived, Queenan helped Costigan escape before being thrown from the roof of the building to his death. This led to a shootout between SIU agents and Costello's men. Dignam who was angered by Queenan's murder attacked Sullivan and was stopped by Ellerby. Timothy Delahunt, one of Costello's henchmen injured in the shootout with the police, tells Costigan that he knows he is a rat, but before he succumbs to his wounds, Delahunt implies that he also works for law enforcement.

News reports reveal that Delahunt is an undercover officer for the Boston Police Department, but Costello suspects that the police department is making false claims to get him to stop looking for spies. Sullivan looks through Queenan's belongings and learns that Co.

A Fact: A Film Noir Reader

How to take a facinating subject and make it seem deadly dull. I suggest that you movies online, get 'em and watch 'em. If you like faux academia, then this is the text book you will want.

Film Noir Reader

ottnoir | A little rainy night film noir action on Sparks St… | Flickr

I give this book two stars instead of one because it fills a gap in my film noir book collection, but I have to say it has dated badly. I bought because I loved Alain Silver's book Noir Style, which is a collection of black-and-white stills from film noir classics, with marvelous commentary. But the Film Noir Reader opens with a collection of essays from the 1970s that display everything bad about the 70s, academic, pretentious, pompous, over-anxious to establish a high-brow status for a low-brow art form (at least it was then). In the 2nd and 3rd sections, the "up-to-date" essays, we get, for instance, an analysis of the TV show Miami Vice in terms of its film noir elements... Miami Vice???

Collection of Film Noir Essays, Including Some Essentials

I'm including reviews of both "Film Noir Reader" and "Film Noir Reader 2" in the same review until Amazon gets the two books unlinked.

FILM NOIR READER (1)

"Film Noir Reader" is a collection of 22 essays about film noir, written between the mid-1950s and mid-1990s by a diverse group of film theorists, including a few essays by the editors themselves, Alain Silver and James Ursini. Some of the essays are illustrated with black-and-white photographs. Mr. Silver takes the opportunity of the book's Introduction to deliver a scathing rebuttal of French critic Marc Vernet's views before commenting on the book's content.

"Film Noir Reader" has three parts: Part I is "Seminal Essays", which include 8 essays written 1955-1979. An excerpt from Raymond Borde and Etienne Chaumeton's seminal 1955 book "A Panorama of American Film Noir" is included, as well as Paul Schrader's essential 1972 essay "Notes on Film Noir". Other essays discuss film noir's visual style, existential motifs, and there is a very interesting essay by Paul Kerr on the circumstances that caused B movies, including B-noirs, to flourish in the 1940s. Part II, "Case Studies", includes 8 essays about specific films and directors, all but one addressing films of the classic noir period. Essays are dedicated to directors John Farrow and Anthony Mann, while others discuss the films "Phantom Lady", "Angel Face", "The Killers", "Night and the City", "Kiss Me Deadly", "Hickey and Boggs", and "The Long Goodbye". Part III, "Noir Then and Now", includes 6 articles that seemed not to fit into Part I or Part II, including a few about neo-noir films. Karen Hollinger discusses the effects of first-person male voiceovers on the images of female characters in classic film noir. Others essays explore films that feature fugitive couples, noir television series, neo-B noirs, and Jeremy G. Butler writes about "Miami Vice".

The date of first publication is clearly stated for all essays in Part I, but I found myself wondering when some of the other essays had been written. Publication information, including dates, are provided for each essay at the end of the book's Acknowledgments. There are some interesting and essential essays in "Film Noir Reader", and some less so, but the book provides a nice collection of opinions and observations on the style that are great food for thought for noir fans and scholars.

FILM NOIR READER 2

"Film Noir Reader 2" is a collection of 24 essays, written 1945-1999, that attempt to define the film noir sensibility and explore particular films and facets of the style in depth. This book shares the same format with the first "Film Noir Reader": Essays are arranged in 3 parts. Part I contains "More Seminal Essays" that augment the defining material in "Film Noir Reader". There are 8 essays, written 1945-1988, including a surprising article written by Lloyd Shearer for "The New York Times" in 1945. A year before French film critics identified and began to discuss the film noir style, Shearer plainly recognized a distinct trend in Hollywood toward "lusty, hard-boiled, gut-and-gore crime stories, all fashioned on a theme with a combination of plausibly motivated murder and studded with high-powered Freudian implication." Pretty neat definition only 4 years into the noir movement. And Shearer goes on to ask "why at this time are so many pictures of the same type being made?" Funny that his article should be reproduced in a book that is still trying to answer that question 60 years later. Shearer's article is followed by French critic Nino Frank's 1946 essay in which the term "noir" was first applied to film. For all the talk of film noir having been created in the minds of critics after the fact, it's apparent that these writers comprehended the existence of film noir style as it was being created.

Part II is dedicated to "Case Studies". It includes 8 essays that discuss "The Postman Always Rings Twice" (1946 & 1981 versions), "Kiss Me Deadly", "The Big Heat", "The File on Thelma Jordan", "Pushover", the neo-noirs "Mississippi Mermaid" and "Badlands", as well as the films of directors Alfred Hitchcock and Samuel Fuller. There is also an essay by Francis M. Nevins on films adapted from the works of Cornell Woolrich and an essay by Robert G. Porfino on jazz music in film noir. Part III, "The Evolution of Noir", is an eclectic assortment of 8 essays. Topics include: noir science fiction, British film noir, abstract expressionism in film noir, female protagonists in neo-noir, and tabloid/crime photographer WeeGee's (Arthur Fellig) relationship to film noir, including discussion of the 1992 film "Public Eye" that was inspired by his career. Film professor Philip Gaines provides an outline of his film noir course, with recommended films and suggested reading. I'd like to mention, in response to Linda Brookover's essay on WeeGee, that although WeeGee's talent for self-promotion was equal to his gift for photojournalism, his photographs were not unique. The work of many excellent and tireless crime photographers adorned the pages of daily newspapers in the 1920s-1950s. Some of them can be seen in the "New York Noir" gallery of the "New York Daily News" archive at www.dailynewspix.com . Tabloid photography is usually overlooked as an influence on film noir, so I'm glad that Ms. Brookover has addressed that oversight, even if I don't entirely agree with her assessment.

Which Actually Stands for High Density DVD

High definition DVD, also known as HD-DVD (which actually stands for High Density DVD), is one of two competing high definition storage format - the other being Blu-ray.

The need for a new, high capacity storage format, has been primarily brought about by the rapid rise in popularity of HDTV in Japan and the US. HDTV has much higher bandwidth than either NTSC or regular DVD discs, so in order to record programs from HD- DVD higher capacity discs, of at least 30GB, are required.

Philips The One 4K TV 2022 (65PUS8807) Review

High definition video is also being used increasingly to make Hollywood movies as it offers comparable quality to film at much less cost. Therefore, the studios plan to release future movies on one or both high definition formats.

HD-DVD was developed by Toshiba and NEC and has the support of the DVD Forum, along with a number of Hollywood studios. Currently those studios which have announced support for HD-DVD are; Universal Studios, Paramount Studios, Warner Bros., and New Line Cinema. It has a capacity of 15GB for single-sided discs and 30Gb for double-sided. It doesnt need a caddy or cartridge and the cover layer is the same thickness as current DVD discs, 0.6mm. The numerical aperture of the optical pick-up head is also the same as DVD, 0.65mm.

Because of its similarities to current DVD, high definition DVD is cheaper to manufacture than Blu-ray, because it doesnt need big changes in the production line set-up. Both HD-DVD and Blu-ray have backward compatibility with existing DVDV discs. That is that current DVDs will play in HD-DVD player, although new high definition DVD wont play in older DVD players.

High definition DVD currently supports a number of compression formats, including MPEG-2, VC1 (based on Microsofts Windows Media 9), and H.264 which is based on MPEG-4 and will be supported by the next on MPEG-4 and will be supported by the next version of Apples QuickTime software, which will be included with Mac OS X Tiger.

Second, decide the screen size and manufacturer you like. Plasma monitors are measured diagonally across the display, as are other tv sets and monitors. Plasma screens start at 32″ and increase in size up to 103″. The most typical sizes are: 37″, 42″, 43″, 50″, 61″, and 63″. The best selling plasma televisions are made by Panasonic, Pioneer, Sony, and Samsung.

Third, you should think about purchasing a plasma television from an on-line e-tailer. Here are some reasons to buy on-line:

Queerview television guide for August 5

This week features all the acts picked as the best of the auditions and should feature queer contestants including country dance troupe The DC Cowboys, America's favorite dragapella quartet The Kinsey Sicks, Britney Spears impersonator Derrick Barry and Tina Turner impersonator Dorae Saunders. From those acts the top forty will go on to the semi-finals, where the public will get to vote on who moves on to compete for the grand prize.

Food Detectives (Food Network) 9:00 PM EDT

Do people who double-dip deserve to be shunned from your party? Can ginger really help with motion sickness? More importantly, will Ted Allen stop yelling at the audience? I adore Ted but that first episode could have used a little less energy ... I'm hoping that'll get fixed as the season continues because Ted geeking out about food science should be so much cooler than that premiere.

Ted Allen

Flipping Out (Bravo) 10:00 PM EDT

With Commonwealth sold, Jeff has to find a place to live, all while trying to finish the Encino job. With all that going on, I guess it's not surprising to see Jenni get all snappish with Jeff in the promos for tonight's season finale.

Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood (Oxygen) 10:00 PM EDT

Tori gives birth in the season finale, which hopefully will bring everyone together including BFF/business partner Mehran as well as Liam's party planners, Bill and Scout.

Adam Grimes as Night Shift doc Kyle Julian

General Hospital: Night Shift (SOAPNet) 11:00 PM EDT

While the current state of General Hospital still invokes old bitter soap geek wounds (hey, I'm a former Santa Barbara and Another World viewer), this prime-time spin-off series is turning out to be a pretty solid soap with plenty of gratuitous beefcake. I know I should be wanting more, but for the moment I'm really enjoying the camaraderie between gay doc Kyle (Grimes) and his new roommate Claire (Carrie Southworth) ... which means I'm also enjoying the Kyle and Claire webisodes on the Night Shift website.
